19 januari 2006 Following a Parliament decision the National Board of Forestry and the ten Regional Forestry Boards have merged into a single forest authority - the Swedish Forest Agency.

Following a Parliament decision the National Board of Forestry and the ten Regional Forestry Boards have merged into a single forest authority – the Swedish Forest Agency. The organisation has a wide geographic coverage with some 120 local offices countrywide enabling close contact with forest landowners, local administrations and other stakeholders. The reorganisation will bring about a strengthening of the district organisation.,,Our ambition is that anyone interested in forest issues will benefit from a more uniform and efficient agency in the future.
