Scion’s GE Trees Damage NZ’s Reputation

5 juni 2008 The State Owned Enterprise (SOE) Scion (formerly Forest Research Institute), whose ‘science’ is involved in massive GE tree plantation projects in Brazil and the USA, has a failed GE tree field trial that is is still growing (www.scoop.co.nz).

GE stands for Genetically Engineered or Trans Genic trees. Some Paper and lumber companies have made field trials with transgenic trees . The possibility that the new genes spliced into GE trees will interfere with natural forests is very high and could be of great risk for natural forests.
