A new plant for large-size plywood production of hard and soft wood was launched February 02, 2007 in Verkhnyaya Sinyachikha, Sverdlovsk region, by Fankom CJSC.,
,According to the Sverdlovsk region administration press service, the opening ceremony was attended by Sverdlovsk region governor Eduard Rossel and CEO’s of the companies that had manufactured the equipment for the plant, Messrs Hashimoto, Minato and Akao. ,
,The new plant is the first advanced timber processing facility in Russia and has the latest foreign and home-produced equipment. The plant is furnished with machinery of the leading Japanese companies such as Hashimoto, Uroko and Kitasawa, as well as of Austrian and Finnish major producers. Electrical power is supplied by a specially built isolated 15 Megawatt boiler house working on wood waste. The new plant having the capacity of 170 thousand cubic meters of plywood per annum was installed in abandoned premises previously used for chipboard production.,
,“Finnish equipment traditionally used at such plants in Russia requires 2.7 cubic meters of feedstock for the production of one cubic meter of plywood, whereas Fankom’s Japanese line takes 2.2 cubic meters, Fankom president Kamil Belyaev said at the opening ceremony. This saves 17 to 19% of raw material.” According to experts, as soon as Fankom’s new plant is up and running at full capacity, it will take its place among Russia’s three largest companies of the industry. ,
,“The plant’s startup is a significant event for the Sverdlovsk region, said Governor Eduard Rossel delivering a speech at the plant’s opening. A number of important issues are resolved at a time: this is a technological breakthrough, a new production has been set up, and at the same time it resolves the social problems of Verkhnyaya Sinyachikha – new jobs are created, the people’s living standards are being raised. I thank Fankom’s managers and all those who took part in the execution of this large-scale project, for the work they have done.” ,
,After the opening ceremony, Eduard Rossel held a session at Fankom which reviewed the prospects for the development of wood-processing companies in the Sverdlovsk region. The project cost 18 mln USD, the planned payback period is 3 years.,
